Fireflies

Time swiftly passes by.

The forest expedition lasted for one week and tomorrow is the last day.

I think back on the events that have happened so far as I got into bed.

During this expedition, I’ve fought against monsters that can use multiple types of magic and even Luluna. I think this trip was good for my growth.

“….I can’t sleep.”

For some reason, I just can’t sleep.

I continued to toss and turn in bed.

The rustling of the sheets is the only sound that could be heard in the room.

I’m the only one in the room.

It’s not like I’m being treated special because I’m in the advanced class. Each of the students in the general class has their own room as well.

That’s simply because this building is huge.

“Lute…are you awake….?”

As I was thinking about this, I could hear a voice from outside my door.

That voice…..Luluna?

“I’m awake. Just a minute.”

I turn on the light in my room and open the door.

After opening it I saw Luluna, Tsurugi, and Patricia. The full force of Class A assembled outside my room.

“What’s wrong? At this time of night.”

“If you’re feeling better Lute-dono, we wanted to invite you to see the fireflies with us.”

“Fireflies? Are there fireflies around here?”

“Geroppa!”

I”m not sure if that’s a yes or no, but I’m guessing it’s a yes because of the smile Patricia is showing.

“We heard about it in the bath today and wanted to go together. Ah, of course, if you’re too tired you don’t have to come.”

“I’ll go!”

I answered right away.

Are three beautiful girls inviting me to see the fireflies with them in the middle of the night? What kind of amazing dream is this?

As might be expected, I’m really having trouble keeping a clear head in this situation.

Maybe that’s just because I have trouble saying no to a friend.

Considering I never had any friends, I doubt that’s the reason.

I went outside, following behind these three people.

There is a chance of encountering demons here, but it seems the teachers were thorough with their search the other day. If we encounter any demons they will just be ordinary types.

And if it’s the four of us, ordinary demons don’t stand a chance.

This isn’t me being proud. Rather, these are just the facts.

“This is the place!”

Luluna stops.

“Waa….!”

Before my eyes, there were many yellow-green lights dancing in the sky.

The natural lights dancing around are amazing and impossible to describe their beauty. I can’t take my eyes off of them.

The four of us just silently stood there at the amazing sight of the fireflies.

— And that’s why none of us noticed.

There was something else there besides us and the fireflies.

There was a sudden rustling sound that caused me to return to my senses.

From the place that the sound came from, I could see a shadow.

“Wh-Who’s there!?”

I yell out toward the shadow.

Though the shadow appears to be human; there is still a chance it is a demon.

If that’s the case, battle is unavoidable—

“Hello, Class A. It is I”

I heard a clear voice that was very strange for a man.

As far as I know, there’s only one man with a voice like that.

In other words…

“Elgil? Is that you?”

“Yes, it’s me.”

Elgil was standing there.

This guy….I was worried it was a demon and my body went cold.

“It’s rather dark, I doubt you can see my face. Do you need me to introduce myself?”

“No, why would that be necessary? We already know you’re Elgil, right?”

Elgil nods after hearing Luluna’s words.

Ah, it seems like we don’t have to worry about his long self-introduction this time.

“That’s right. It must be an honor to know my name. That’s why I’ll say it once more. I am Elgil, Elgil von Istria — a man that stands atop all other adventurers.”

This guy can’t help but introduce himself. I feel like he has some kind of disease.

In front of Elgil, as his cloak flapped in the wind, three girls stood there in confusion.

“Kerokero–”

No, maybe Patricia is just her usual self. This girl really does things at her own pace.

“Elgil-dono, did you come to see the fireflies?”

“Yes. It’s the obligation of a noble.”

“I’ve never heard of such an obligation.”

That’s definitely a lie! Rather than it being an obligation, he just really wanted to see them!

Of course, I didn’t say this out loud when I responded to Elgil.

In response to me, Elgil just laughs and waves his hands at me.

“I’m joking, that’s all. It was a joke. Look at me, Lute-kun.”

Elgil said this and stood right in front of me.

He just looked like his normal, good-looking self.

In fact, due to the light of the fireflies, he looks even more handsome than usual.

“Well, I think I saw it?”

To my answer, Elgil opened both his arms out wide.

“Well, aren’t I shining brilliantly?”

Is that really his reason for being here?

I understand the feeling of not having any friends.

“What is this misunderstanding? I’m popular everywhere I go!”

“Eh, is that so? For some reason, I can’t believe that.”

“Lute, you can say some unexpectedly cruel things….There’s no way I wouldn’t be popular. What about you guys? What do you think about me?”

Elgil waved to Luluna.

“You’re amazingly conceited.”

“Geroppa kero”

“Maybe a hot-headed narcissist?”

They didn’t hold anything back.

“I…I will not cry….! I am a strong boy….!”

Elgil trembles and clinches his fist while biting his lip.

I could see something slowly dripping from his eyes.

Luluna sees this and gently tries to talk to Elgil.

“I’m sorry, Elgil. We may have over did it a little. So, please don’t make that face……The stimulation might be a bit much for me….!”

That girl, she looks like she is desperately trying to hold something back as she watches Elgil cry….!

“You are……Luluna-san? You’re kind, thank you.”

“Uee…..that’s not….You’re welcome.”

I’m not sure she’s kind, rather it looks like she’s on the brink of death from trying to suppress her inner S…….Well, it’s probably best not to fix this misunderstanding.

My first friend is something I truly can’t understand.

“Hmm, what’s wrong Lute? Your eyes look distant.”

“No, everyone is just too sharp.”

“Sharp? If you’re talking about how I’m shining, I understand what you mean.”

That’s…not quite what I meant….

Is there a requirement to be strange in order to join the advanced class?

I let out a sigh.

Compared to everyone else, I….

When I voiced my grievance, Luluna and the others tried to comfort me.

“What are you worried about, Lute? You’re a very kind person that brought me to the Academy. Even if you’re just a background character, you were my first friend.”

“Yes, thank you, Luluna.”

It hurt a little being called a background character, but I’m happy she cares about me so much.

Then, the other two, Patricia and Tsurugi, called out to me.

“Lute, you’re a funny person kero. Sometimes I don’t even notice you at all, but I’m glad you’re my classmate kero.”

“Lute-dono is a very hard worker! The way you can almost completely erase your presence is amazing! I’d like you to teach me it someday!”

“Thank you, both of you. I’m really happy.”

But, first of all, I don’t have the ability to completely erase my presence.

It’s just like I thought, I’m just too normal….

It can’t be helped, but I can’t deny it’s a little disappointing.

“Wh-what’s wrong, Lute? Are you feeling better?”

Luluna looks at me with an expression mixed with worry and pleasure.

Her face was looking tense and she was starting to sweat. She’s, really trying to fight against her inner S.

And then, we could hear a loud yell from behind us.

The loud, “Uuuuooo!” could be heard clearly. The members of Class A stood there silently.

“That voice! Is it a demon!?”

The only person that still seemed concerned, was Class B’s, Elgil.

“No, it’s something else. Elgil, this voice is…”

“Uuuuooooo!? Hmm? Why are you all here?”

Of course, it was Bagiran.

His voice is as loud as usual. Does he not know it’s nighttime?

“Why are you yelling so much?”

Luluna asks an obvious question.

“If demons were to attack while I’m watching the fireflies, the mood would be ruined. I wanted to lure out any demons by making it clear I was here.”

I’m not sure that entirely answered the question, nor do I completely understand his reasoning.

“It’s unexpected that Sensei likes fireflies kero”

“It’s just something I enjoy.”

It’s fine if Bagiran likes stuff like this, but with his face and physique, it is surprising that he’s interested in something like this.

“It’s the same way I feel! Sensei is so pretty! You’re like a single flower!”

“Is that how you see me…?”

Bagiran looked at Tsurugi with a puzzled expression,

This is possibly the first time Bagiran and I have had the same expression.

Then, Bagiran turned his gaze to Elgil.

“Oh, you’re Elgil, right? I’ve heard a lot about you from the teacher of Class B. You sound very promising.”

“Thank you very much. Well, it’s only obvious I’d be promising. I’m a natural.”

Elgil showed a fearless smile after saying this.

I wouldn’t mind some of his confidence.

“I’ve mainly been with Class A, but Class B also seems to be exceptional compared to an average advanced class. There are so many wonderful students this year. As a teacher, it’s great to see…..Well, I should be leaving soon.”

Bagiran turns around, even though he only just saw the fireflies.

“Eh, you’re leaving already? You just got here.”

“I’m glad I was able to get even a small look. Besides, there are many things the teachers need to prepare, for tomorrow. Make sure you all get to bed soon so you don’t oversleep. Bye.”

After saying this, Bagiran left.

Then, Elgil begins to laugh.

“Fufufu….Bagiran Sensei remembered my name. You know what this means, Lute.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“It means Sensei has acknowledged me as a member of Class A!”

“You’re amazing.”

This guy makes no sense at all.

“Elgil is a gerogero kero”

“You must be, Patricia-san? What exactly is a gerogero…?”

“Gerogero is gerogero kero. Geronkerokero has a similar meaning to it kero”

“I..I see……I definitely understand. After all, I’m a nobleman!”

There’s absolutely no chance he knows what she is saying. Nobody knows what she’s saying.

As I stood there dumbfounded, Elgil quietly whispered to me.

“Hey, Lute, what does gerogero mean exactly?”

So he really didn’t understand….

Please don’t involve me in this.

“I have no idea, maybe she’s praising you? Again, no clue.”

I tell him what I think it may mean.

After hearing my words, Elgil’s eyes begin to shine.

“I see….! Patricia-san, you’re a great person!”

“Th-thank you, kero…….I”m sorry I said something so terrible like gerogero a moment ago kero”

Patricia apologizes like this.

Ah, so it wasn’t praise after all. Well, it would be weird to compliment him in that situation.

“Lute-kun! That wasn’t a compliment!”

Even if you tell me that, I still don’t know what gerogero means. Besides, this is why I didn’t want to get involved from the beginning.

I just wanted to see fireflies!

Right, let’s concentrate on the fireflies for now.

I looked up at the fireflies in the night sky. They’re also trying their best in this moment.

Elgil turns into a machine that appears to only be able to shout, “Lute-kun”; I just ignored him and continued to watch the fireflies.

“Alright…..Begin!”

At Bagiran’s words, our battle began.

I first used【Anti-wall】to launch myself over Luluna to create some distance between us.

Luluna uses nullification magic; so it’s best if I keep my distance from her.

However…

“Hmm? Lute, you went behind me? I thought you’d come straight at me.”

Luluna comes closer to me as she says this.

“Honestly, I thought about doing that, but….you also know many different forms of martial arts.”

At the same time Luluna approaches me, I run the opposite direction and place【Thunder Trap】between us.

But, Luluna just walked through the 【Thunder Trap】without even noticing it.

That’s because【Thunder Trap】never activated.

“Ah, I guess you did something just now. I’m not sure what it was, but that doesn’t matter.”

Luluna says this and shows a sweet smile.

It’s just like her normal smile, and yet…..I feel terror looking at it.

I can feel a shiver run down my spine…

“It’s just as Lute said. My magic can’t be used to attack, but I needed a way to defend myself. And so, I trained myself in martial arts.”

Even though I am nothing but an amateur in terms of martial arts, I can tell that Luluna is very skilled.

Even so….I see Luluna’s feet step on my trap and nothing happened.

This is due to her nullification magic. After all, it really is difficult to deal damage directly to her using trap magic.

I also seriously doubt I can beat her in hand-to-hand combat. I’ve never really even practiced martial arts.

….What should I do?

“He~y, are you not going to come at me? If not, then maybe I should come to you?”

Luluna charges towards me.

At the same time, I used【Anti-wall】to launch myself backward.

My【Anti-wall】activates just before Luluna reaches me.

If she gets close enough, my【Anti-wall】will be completely disabled. I’ll be left completely defenseless; I need to do whatever I can to avoid her attack!

I continuously used【Anti-wall】to fly around Luluna.

Fortunately, when we had shown each other our magic, I was able to learn the range of Luluna’s nullification magic.

“Not bad, Lute. Luluna won’t be able to catch you if you keep that up.”

I can’t beat Luluna by just flying around her.

I can’t even attack her. How do I…..

As I was beginning to tire, I could hear Luluna’s voice.

Luluna suddenly turned in my direction and ran towards me. The distance between us was suddenly gone and【Anti-wall】disappeared.

“Wha-!?”

I’m unable to keep my balance and fall to the ground.

When I was finally able to stand, Luluna was right in front of me.

“Lute, you gave me too much time to see your movements. Even I would be able to see the pattern given that much time.”

“A-As expected of Luluna…”

I can feel a spasm in my cheek after falling on my back. I looked up into Luluna’s eyes.

Bad, this is very bad….!

“Thank you for the praise. Now then, shall I go?”

Luluna stuck her pink tongue out at me, then licked her lips.

She formed a small fist and swung at me.

“Uwaa!?”

I roll to the ground and somehow manage to avoid it.

However, I’m not sure I’ll be able to avoid the next one.

I can see Luluna looking around nervously.

“That face, it’s causing my inner sadist to come out! This is a lot of fun, right Lute?”

Luluna was laughing wildly.

Her cheeks are starting to turn red.

“…Luluna hasn’t your character changed a bit too much!?”

“Is that so, gehehehe~.”

Her voice is still pretty, but her face is still flushed.

“You were an extreme S!?”

“Of course not. I just get a little excited when I see someone suffering or in trouble!”

Luluna puts all of her power into her next punch that connects with my stomach. I fall to the ground in pain.

“Gah….T-that’s exactly what an S is…..”

Her punch hit me right in the torso, I looked up at her through teary eyes.

“Lute, don’t look at me with that face…! I’m getting excited….!”

Luluna stopped and looked at me with glazed over eyes.

Oh my god, I have no idea what she’s saying.

I thought Luluna and I were part of the alliance of normal people at the Academy….but that’s definitely not the case!

Before Luluna could hurt me anymore I ran and climbed up a nearby tree.

It doesn’t matter how I just need to get away from Luluna.

“Oh, nice idea, Lute. I’ve never climbed a tree before!”

Luluna tried to climb the tree but quickly fell back to the ground.

Luluna gave up trying to climb the tree and kicked the tree out of frustration causing the tree to shake.

“Come down Lute, pleas~e! Weren’t we having fun together?”

“Luluna’s terrifying! Luluna’s terrifying!”

Why is such a cute voice so scary!?

I’m desperately continuing to climb upward despite the tree shaking.

Finally, I was able to climb out of the range of Luluna’s magic.

“【Anti-wall】!”

I again use【Anti-wall】and fly away from Luluna.

That was dangerous…..I’m glad she only managed to hit me once. I have no idea what would have happened had she hit me more than that.

I’m definitely going to win this….!

I lower my altitude and continue to circle around Luluna, just outside the range of her magic.

I need to stay away from her. I definitely can’t get caught by her again.

I shift my weight and jump.

I repeat this and my speed steadily rises.

I won’t fall for Luluna’s feint this time. I won’t make the same mistake twice.

“Lute, you’ve already fixed your mistake from earlier! This is troublesome for me.”

Luluna said this and didn’t seem to be able to predict my movements.

However, I’ll get nowhere like this.

Once I have enough speed, this battle will be decided.

The moment I was behind Luluna, I used【Anti-wall】to change direction and aimed myself at her.

Thighs, knees, calves, and feet.

I put all of my force on the lower half of my body.

“Here I come, Luluna!”

Only “magic” can be invalidated by her nullification magic. That means, she can’t do anything to stop my momentum.

“Wha-! So fast….!?”

Luluna desperately tries to avoid my attack, but she can’t keep up with my speed.

I awkwardly smash into her.

My body crashed into her and we rolled across the ground together.

This is it, it’s all or nothing!

I stopped myself with my legs and straddled Luluna.

“Haa…..haa…..! E-even Luluna has no counter for this kind of attack!”

I say this to Luluna as she lay on the ground.

Luluna tried to move her arms, but eventually just let out a sigh.

“….Right, it’s my loss.”

“It was a nice match, but Luluna needed to be more decisive at times. You would have won earlier if you weren’t playing around with Lute. And Lute, you need to keep your eyes open at all times. During the battle, you need to watch your opponent’s every move. Other than that, I have nothing to say. It was a hard fight.”

Luluna and I collapsed to the ground after hearing Bagiran’s assessment of the match.

“Is your stomach okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine.”

I lift my shirt to show Luluna my abdomen.

There’s a large red mark, but nothing that will require a doctor. This type of injury will heal in a day or two.

I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination, but Luluna’s eyes look like they’re entering S mode again…..It’s just my imagination, it is definitely just my imagination.

“I enjoyed the fight. I wanted our fun to last a little longer.”

“It was definitely long enough for me…Was that your true personality?”

“Your true personality, is who you really are?”

“Is that really your true personality?”

Luluna laughed at my words. She’s really cute.

“For the longest time now, whenever I fight, my personality changes. The longer a fight goes on, the more enjoyable it becomes….”

How can this girl be so cute, yet say such scary things!?

“But, I return to normal pretty quickly.”

“I’m glad for that…”

Honestly, I’m relieved to hear that.

But even this relief left me as I looked at Luluna’s face.

“….I’m sorry. I’m a scary person. I can no longer be Lute’s friend…”

Luluna looks down and tears form in her eyes.

I’ve never seen her like this, and so, I start to panic.

I stand up and try to comfort her.

“No, I wasn’t scared, I was just surprised! Well, I was scared, but I wasn’t afraid of you. I was even a little happy! I could tell that you were really into our fight! So, Luluna is definitely my friend!”

After hearing my panicked words, Luluna smiled and wiped her tears away.

“….Thank you, Lute….!”

“N-No problem!”

The smile she showed is the one I’ve gotten used to seeing from her.

That’s good. I’m relieved.

I was disappointed in Luluna for another reason, but I didn’t say anything.

I was only sad that we could no longer be in the normal alliance together, but that was all.

After all, it’s not particularly a bad thing. I honestly believe it will be a useful characteristic in battle.

“He~y, so you enjoyed being hit by me~”

“Wai-! Where did you get that idea!? Luluna you definitely misunderstood my words!”

Does she think I’m as big a pervert as her!?

Then, Tsurugi and Patricia came up to us.

“Luluna and Lute-dono are so strong. I’m envious. I definitely need to train more!”

Her eyes looked dignified as she looked toward her future.

Tsurugi is such an honest person.

“I want to be a better singer as well kero!”

R-right. What is she talking about?

Luluna’s true personality was unexpectedly found out, but the practice battles were a success.

Practice Battle

The next day.

I had almost completely recovered from my wounds and was just about to leave the medical office to return to the room that had been assigned to me.

It’s amazing that I have recovered so quickly.

There is only one major school in the country, it seems that the healers of this school are incredibly skilled.

I’m relieved that I will be able to attend class once again.

As I left the medical office, Luluna was waiting for me.

“Are you doing okay?”

“Yes, thanks to you.”

Both Tsurugi and Patricia gave me a short greeting.

And so, a few minutes passed.

“Good morning! Hahaha, the weather is quite nice today!”

Bagiran appeared next to us saying this.

This guy’s voice is loud as usual….

“Lute, how are you doing? Are you able to participate in the practical training today?”

“Ah, yes. There should be no problems.”

I respond to Bagiran’s question with a serious face.

Bagiran can be surprisingly considerate sometimes.

It’s a common saying not to judge someone based on their appearance.

“Alright, that’s good….That’s good.”

“Uwaa!”

I accidently let out a surprised yell.

It does make me happy that he seems to be concerned about my well being, but it’s still strange…

Tsurugi is impressed like usual.

I honestly don’t understand why she seems impressed.

We followed Bagiran into the forest.

Bagiran began explaining the training we would do today as we walked through the forest.

“Today we will have some practical lessons. We’ll be pairing up…..The pairs will be Tsurugi and Patricia, then Lute and Luluna.”

“Pairs kero?”

“Adventurers will often quarrel with people unexpectedly. You will come across many fake adventurers and many people that will try to steal your contracts in this world. If you do not have experience fighting human opponents, you will all be in trouble. And so, that’s why we will have one-on-one battles in the forest.”

Then, Bagiran stopped walking.

I guess we’ll be fighting here.

Tsurugi and Patricia were going to start first.

“Bagiran Sensei, isn’t their a risk of being attacked by demons here?”

“There is. It can happen in real world scenarios as well. If it were to happen the best strategy is to use the demon against your opponent.”

Uwaa, that’s an evil smile he’s showing.

“Of course, there is no chance we will encounter a demon like the one from yesterday. The teachers spent all night surveying the area to be sure there were no more. Honestly, I didn’t get enough sleep.”

Bagiran rubs his eyes.

I’m impressed he went to such efforts to make sure we’d be safe.

“Thank you for your hard work.”

“Well, this is a part of my job. It’s the responsibility of the teacher to make sure his students are safe.”

Tsurugi’s eyes sparkle at his words and she raises her hand.

“Sensei, I would like to engrave those words on the note pad of my heart! I would like to ask your permission!”

“I see, have it your way.”

“Of course!”

After Tsurugi received his permission, she closed her eyes and began to hum, “Mu~”

She continued doing this for a little while and then opened her eyes.

“Input completed!”

“Kero….Tsurugi-san is a strange person kero.”

“I am!? I’ve lost to Peti-dono!”

“No, I think you are both pretty strange….”

Luluna says this as she looks at the two arguing.

“Haha, that’s true.”

Compared to Luluna and I, Patricia and Tsurugi are definitely strange.

“You guys, where did the enthusiasm you all had yesterday go….”

Bagiran showed an angry expression as he looked at the two arguing.

“Tsurugi-san, let’s start soon. I’ll be scared if Sensei gets angry. I hate it when people get angry kero –”

“I also hate that. Then, we can begin at anytime, Peti-dono.”

And finally, the battle between the two will begin.

I’ve never really had the opportunity to see the others fight. I’m excited for this.

The atmosphere suddenly changed.

Tsurugi places her hand on the sword that’s on her lower back.

Patricia’s face is usually covered by the frog hood, but now the hood is pulled back.

The previously casual appearance of the two has now completely disappeared. There was suddenly a savage pressure emitting from them.

Tsurugi was the first to move.

“Don’t hold anything back!”

The sword is controlled by magic as it floats in the air. Tsurugi begins by throwing it towards Patricia.

“Kerokero”

Patricia used her alteration magic to raise the earth at her feet, lifting her into the sky.

The sword is unable to change its trajectory and stabs harmlessly into the soil.

“Keroro~n”

Patricia leaps from the pillar of soil and touches the sword. The touched swords changes into a large frog due to Patricia’s alteration magic.

“Wha-…!?”

“Tsurugi-san can’t control it if it’s not metal kero. Now, it’s my turn kero.”

Then, Patricia placed her hand on the ground.

She’s…..pouring magic into the ground.

An arm formed from the magical power poured into the soil and it grabbed onto Tsurugi’s ankle.

“With this, you’re completely immobilized kero.”

Patricia says this and creates a cannon out of the soil near her feet.

It seems she plans on ending the fight now.

However, I doubt Tsurugi plans on letting it end so soon.

Tsurugi brilliantly cut through the arm restraining her.

“You’ll be in trouble if you underestimate my swords.”

Tsurugi rushed towards Patricia, and in a flash her sword was pressed against Patricia’s neck.

“I…I surrender kero~….”

Patricia weakly raised both of her hands.

“Fumu, that’s the end.”

Bagiran declared the end of the battle.

The defeated Patricia returns the frog sword back to normal and returns it to Tsurugi.

“Tsurugi-san is strong kero. Geroppa, I can feel it kero.”

“Peti-dono was also strong. I need to become more diligent.”

“Both of your movements were good, but you both froze up when you were met with an unexpected situation. I have nothing specific to say, other than it was a good fight.”

Bagiran noted his observations from the fight.

“Sensei, can you say that again? I want to record it.”

“Record it? I don’t want to, that’s embarrassing.”

“T-that’s~……”

After hearing Bagiran’s words, Tsurugi looked as if she had lost the will to live.

Did she really want to record it that badly?

Patricia and Luluna try to comfort the depressed Tsurugi.

“Tsurugi-san, geroppa kero!”

“Tsurugi, geroppa.”

…..I guess I’ll also go along with them.

“Tsurugi, geroppa.”

“I’m not sure if you’re comforting me or trying to annoy me….”

The first pair’s fight has ended and now Luluna and I were up.

“You may still be weak, but I don’t plan on holding back at all, Lute!”

“I want you to come at me with everything you’ve got, Luluna!”

Luluna and I face each other.

Luluna was my first friend, but that doesn’t matter here.

I must get some experience before the fight with Elgil……this fight, I definitely can’t lose!

“Alright…..begin!”

At Bagiran’s words, our battle began.

Battle with the Demon

We hurried in the direction of the scream.

We came upon a break in the trees, nearly all of the trees and grass had been cleared out in a wide circle.

It almost looked like a plaza, there was no trees or grass at all.

The ground in the clearing was dyed black. This is……….

At the same time I was looking at the black ground, I could hear a bloodcurdling scream…..

“PLEASE, SAVE ME!”

“Gurururu!”

Then I could see students from the academy cornered by a demon.

A demon with a long black tail stood in the center of eight students lying on the ground.

The demon had matted black and white spotted fur with dangerous looking eyes.

“This demon took out all of them…..”

“Gurururu!”

The demon recognized that we were a new enemy and got low to the ground while letting out another growl.

It let out a wave of magical power as saliva dripped down the demon’s tusks.

Looking at it, I feel a shiver run down my spine.

……Hey, doesn’t this thing seem to have too much magical power!?

That much high-density magical power, I’ve never seen anyone other than Grandma and Grandpa have this much overwhelming magical power.

“Everyone, group up.”

We gathered around Luluna after she said this.

At the same time the demon began to form water magic at the end of its tusks and then fired it towards us.

Due to Luluna’s nullification magic, the demon’s water magic disappeared.

“As expected of Luluna-dono. If things stay like this —”

“This is bad…..This demon’s power is overwhelming! My magical power won’t last long against it!”

As I expected.

To completely nullify that powerful of an attack would require a massive amount of magical power.

Besides, it seems like this demon’s melee attacks would be even stronger than it’s magic.

This could actually be very dangerous….

The demon seems to be done waiting for us to make a move and takes aim at us. The demon bends it’s front legs, lowering itself to the ground.

It’s coming!

“Everyone step back!”

I create【Anti-wall】right in front of the charging demon.

As the demon slammed into【Anti-wall】it’s momentum caused it to be knocked backwards.

Alright, now I’ve got a little time to talk.

“I will distract the demon. While I’m doing that, Patricia create something that can carry the injured students away from here. Tsurugi and Luluna need to go get help as quickly as possible. With Luluna’s nullification magic and Tsurugi’s ability to deal with physical attacks, you should be able to get to the teachers quickly.”

“Th-then, Lute —”

“There’s no time, get help from the teachers as soon as possible! There is most likely another one around!”

The three people in front of me turn pale.

But I am sure of it.

The magic this demon just used was water, but there are scorch marks all over this area.

It’s obvious if you look at the blackened ground. There’s almost certainly another enemy nearby, a demon that uses either fire or lightning magic.

At our level, we’re not capable of dealing with two of these demons. We need the teachers here now.

After I finished speaking, Tsurugi took out one of the swords she had attached to her waist.

I was confused as to what she was planning, when she threw the sword up into the sky.

“I’ll leave one sword here so we can find our way back.”

“I’m counting on you, Tsurugi.”

Patricia had begun to gather the injured people. She transformed the earth into something like a rickshaw.

It seems considerably heavy, but Patricia seems able to move it by using her magic to alter her arms and increase their strength.

“Lute-kun, we’ll see each other later kero.”

“We’ll absolutely meet up later, Lute!”

These three people pushed the cart together, heading towards the finish and the teachers.

“Now…..then”

“Gururururu…..!”

“I would like to kill you as quickly as possible, how to kill you…”

I face the demon.

The demon stared at me with it’s mismatched eyes.

Saliva leaked out from it’s mouth.

I concentrate my magical power at my feet and create【Anti-wall】.

I don’t know if I would be able to place any traps in time if the demon were to suddenly rush me.

I finished placing【Anti-wall】at my feet, then concentrated my magical power at the feet of the demon and placed【Hidden Flames】.

I keep my eyes on the demon, trying to hide my true intentions.

“Gururu!”

However, the monster is able to detect the change in my magical power and charges at me.

“Well, it’s not like it could be that easy, right……!”

It may be reckless to use a trap on the demon when it’s rushing so violently.

So, I used【Anti-wall】to launch myself over the charging demon and landed behind it.

This isn’t good…

The demon’s speed is much faster than I expected.

I’ve already used a lot of my magical power.

I can maybe create【Anti-wall】a dozen more times, I’ll only be able to use any other spell half as many times.

The demon seems to have become impatient with me, it begins to open it’s mouth wide.

This is a chance!

I force myself to ignore my exhaustion and stand up.

It most likely will use water magic again, the attack is strong, but it also leaves the demon wide open. If I attack there —

“…..Eh?”

I was completely stunned by the sight in front of me.

“Gururururu!”

The demon had begun to convert the magical power on its tusks into thunder magic.

…..Two different types of magic!? This demon can do that!?

I’ve never heard of anything like this. But, without a doubt, this demon in front of me is using water and lightning magic.

Being shocked in this situation could be a fatal mistake.

Dazzling light is already surging from the tusk of the demon, it looks as if the demon is ready to attack.

Gurururaraaa!”

That’s dangerous, anyway I need to set up defenses, and【Anti-wall】—!

In the next moment, as I was creating【Anti-wall】, the surrounding area was enveloped by a blinding flash and a thunderous boom.

The trees, grass, and earth smell burnt.

The smell was overwhelming as I lay face down in the dirt.

However, I can’t even run away at this point.

Somehow, I had managed to escape death, but it still took several minutes before I was able to move.

No, I need to wait for the right time, and so I remain still on the ground…

It cautiously approaches me, and looks down at my motionless body on the ground.

And it bit into my abdomen with all of its strength.

“Kyan!?”

At that instant,【Eternal Ice】,【Thunder Trap】, and【Hidden Flames】that had been set on my body all activated at once and the monster collapsed on the spot.

The demon is still twitching on the ground.

I wonder if the demon is no longer a threat.

“Haa…..I thought I was going to die…..”

I let out a sigh of relief.

It was a good move to place traps on myself before the demon’s lightning magic activated.

That’s why I collapsed after【Anti-wall】failed to activate properly, but the demon is dead, so I win….

I would be dead if it had tried to bite into my head. Thankfully it went for my stomach…..

But, I’m in a lot of pain….

I gently pull my shirt up with trembling hands.

There was a clear bite-mark on my abdomen.

“……It seems I celebrated a little prematurely.”

I admonished myself as I watched the demon continuing to twitch in pain.

We were sprinting through grass that was up to my knees.

Since this is a time trial, we can’t waste any time.

Then one may say, “Why not use【Anti-wall】to go faster,” well it would be meaningless.

It wouldn’t matter if one person finished quickly.

The entire team has to finish before the time is counted, and it would be foolish of me to waste my magical power here.

There are still demons in the forest.

Even if we are only able to run, we should be able to beat Elgil’s record.

“What to do…..”

I’m trying to think of a plan as we continue to run.

Though, it seems to be hard to think of anything while also focusing on running.

“Kero!”

At that time, Patricia jumped out in front with a *pyon*.

“What’s wrong, Peti-dono?”

“I can increase the length of your legs with my magic kero. That way we can all run faster kero. Especially you, Lute.”

Patricia points at my legs as she says this.

Who has short legs!? My legs aren’t too short! All of you just have too good of figures!

“Patricia, you’re words hurt……but it’s still a good idea. Go ahead.”

As soon as I say this, there is a change in my body.

As I feel my body begin to raise, my stride also gets wider with each step.

Eventually, my body finished its transformation.

“Aa….”

I unexpectedly let out a sigh of satisfaction.

“Woah!”

I was too impressed and my foot got caught on a root, causing me to lose my balance.

I managed to stay upright, but I was a little embarrassed.

“Be careful, Lute-kun kero. You had the most drastic change kero.”

Why do I have to feel so sad……rather, I need to concentrate!

After thinking I need to concentrate, I heard Luluna’s question.

“Wouldn’t it be better to change us into a quadruped or even a bird?”

I can’t describe what I’m currently feeling.

“Everyone, there’s an enemy! In front of us to the right!”

I can’t see anything yet, but there is definitely something there.

“I’ve got this! Everyone keep going!”

Tsurugi says this and leaves our group.

A moment later, we could hear the sound of Tsurugi’s blade cutting something.

Judging by the sound, I’m guessing Tsurugi killed the demon.

After this, we each took turns killing any demons that got in our way.

It’s best to take care of them as soon as possible, rather than risking them attacking us from behind.

We also want to reduce the number of fights we’ll have to go through on the way back. We’ll be much weaker on the return trip.

And we continued to run for dozens of minutes.

“We made it!”

We finally arrived at our objective, the shrine.

We need to finish here quickly, we still have a long way to go…..!

We report in to the female teacher that was there.

I confirmed with her after checking in and began running again without a break.

Damn, it’s even harder now after stopping to report in……

“Luluna, how long has it been?”

“We’re currently at one hour and fifteen minutes. If things stay like this….”

Luluna says this with a bitter tone.

There is only one meaning. At the pace we’re going, we can’t beat Elgil’s time.

Even if we only need to return now, we’re too slow.

It’s almost certain that we will lose.

“….I guess it can’t be helped. For better or worse, it’s better than not doing it.”

“Do you have another plan?”

Tsurugi asks this.

I nodded to her.

To be honest, I’m not sure I can do this, but I have to do everything I can.

Luluna lets out a surprised voice.

Luluna points at me while shouting.

“? Patricia is obviously lighter, right?”

Next to me Patricia says, “My weight is around 4,000 tree frogs kero!” I have no idea if that’s light or heavy.

“Cer-certainly Peti is lighter…… but that’s not the point! What are you planning on doing, Lute?”

To Luluna’s question, I answered,

“I will fly using【Anti-wall】and I will simultaneously allow Tsurugi to fly as well.”

Honestly, with my current skills using 【Anti-wall】on two separate people will be quite difficult.

It’s completely different using it on two people. But, I can’t let them know my doubts.

“It’s possible I’ll run out of magical power before we finish, but I’ll go as far as I can. If I’m completely exhausted, can I rely on all of you to help me finish?”

“Of course!”

“I have no problems, when you pass out I can just change you into a frog kero.”

“Th-then, I’ll get on?”

Luluna shyly climbs onto my back.

There’s a definite increase in weight on my body.

“….Oouu”

To be honest, after running for so long, my body was already tired.

“What do you mean by, “Oouu!? I’m so heavy that you have to say, “Oouu!?”

“No, you’re mistaken. It’s just that the scenery is so beautiful I had to say, “Oouu.”

“Is…is that so? Then, I’m sorry for saying something strange.”

I’m glad Luluna believed me so easily.

And we both were launched forward.

Almost immediately after we had leapt forward, Tsurugi seemed to be losing her balance.

Though Patricia is still going kerokero on her back, she’s trying to help Tsurugi keep her balance. From the side, it looks considerably dangerous.

“Tsurugi, don’t look down, try to remain facing forward as much as possible! I will definitely create【Anti-wall】at your feet! Trust me!”

“I…I understand!”

After hearing my words, Tsurugi stopped looking down and began looking forward.

With this, I was responsible for the safety of my friends. I can’t fail……

Cold sweat runs down my cheek.

……No, I’m first-class. Remember everything I’ve been through, all of the training…..

I can do it. I can do it —

“You’re fine, you can do it Lute.”

Suddenly, the voice heard from behind me gave me peace of mind.

I briefly reply, and continue creating【Anti-wall】.

We must be about half-way there.

The people we’ve passed from the general class, seemed to get more and more confused the closer we get to the finish.

“Luluna, how much time has passed?”

“It’s been one hour and twenty minutes…..we’ll be fine if you can keep this pace. How is your magical power?”

“Another ten minutes should be doable —”

As I was answering Luluna’s question, I heard a scream from my left.

The scream was clearly someone in trouble. I unconsciously stop casting【Anti-wall】and come to a stop.

“….Just now, that was a scream.”

“Kero….”

We look around to try to find the source of the scream.

The dense forest around us makes it impossible to see very far. It’s impossible to tell what the cause of the scream was.

But, without a doubt, something bad has happened.

“What should we do, Lute? Ignore it or go?”

“It-it’s my decision!?”

Why are the major decisions left up to me?

After I started panicking, Tsurugi calmly began to speak.

“The only reason we’ve gotten here so quickly, is because of Lute-dono and Peti-dono. It’s only natural that you two should decide.”

“I think so, too”

“I will leave it to Lute kero”

“Uuee….”

I look into the dense forest as I let out a groan.

I still can’t see anything.

The immense amount of trees completely blocks my view.

We don’t even know the name or face of the person in trouble. If we abandon them now, we should be able to finish first.

But this person may be in serious trouble.

“….Then, let’s go find the person that screamed.”

It would make sense to think, “If you are an adventurer, you should be able to take care of yourself”, but I can’t just overlook it.

We pushed through the trees and foliage, before heading in the direction of the scream.

Time Trial

Dawn, the next day.

In contrast to the cool air in the forest, we are fired up.

“Al~right, I’ll do my best!”

“I will too!”

“Kerokero! Kerokerokeroke!”

Everyone seems really motivated.

“What’s this, you all seem fired up? If that’s the case, you all should do fine. You don’t need to worry.”

“Kerorororororo!”

“Can I make a correction? I’m only worried about you.”

Bagiran says this while looking at Patricia. To be honest, I agree with Sensei.

Bagiran begins to speak again.

“Aa, let’s draw lots to see if you’ll go during the first or second half.”

Apparently we need to decide who will be the one that draws.

“I feel like it should be Lute that draws.”

“Okay, I understand.”

I went to the place where other students were drawing lots.

Elgil was already waiting there.

“Ah, it’s you. Did you come to see me because you missed me so much?”

“No, I just came to draw lots.”

There’s no other reason for me being here, it was just a coincidence we even met.

However, Elgil doesn’t seem to be discouraged.

“Well, you came up with a good excuse to see me.”

“No, I really —”

“Ah, it’s okay. I know your true feelings without you trying to come up with an excuse, right Lute-kun?”

Elgil says this with a triumphant look on his face.

This guy is ridiculously annoying.

As a result of the lottery, Elgil and Group B would do the time trial in the morning, and the afternoon we would go.

Since there are dozens of teams from the general class, it would take forever for all of them to pull lots. There were only two groups from the advanced class, so we finished relatively quickly.

“I see, so we’ll go during the afternoon.”

Luluna placed her hand on her chin after I reported back.

I wonder what she’s thinking about.

“The morning groups seem to be at a disadvantage, by going in the afternoon we’ll know the other groups time.”

I was a little surprised after hearing Luluna’s words.

That does make sense though. I didn’t even consider it because I was so absorbed in the conversation with Elgil.

…….It’s rather unpleasant saying I was absorbed in the conversation with Elgil. I definitely don’t want it to sound like I’m obsessed with him.

“More or less, it seems to be a good thing. Well, we’re already ahead before the trial even starts……Is it too soon to say that Lute-dono has won?”

“In the morning, there are less monsters active, but in the afternoon more will be around. Considering that the number of enemies will increase, I doubt it will be so easy.”

“I see…..”

Everyone turns their heads to me. I feel like they’re all thinking, “If there’s a tough monster Lute will take care of it.”

I’ll reflect for a little while.

After a while, the morning time trial had begun.

The objective of the time trial is to travel to a shrine about about ten kilometers away and return as quickly as possible.

There seems to be someone waiting at the shrine, so it’s impossible to cheat.

The distance is twenty kilometers in total. Even if the students here used to be civilians, if they wish to be an adventurer, they should be able to run that distance in an hour.

But there are demons.

It was about two hours later that Class B returned.

“Fuu…..everyone, I’ve returned.”

Elgil makes his cloak flutter as he says this.

I think it’s amazing that he’s trying to keep up his elegant appearance while breathing so heavily, but the words he said were even more amazing.

The students of the general class that were preparing for the afternoon’s time trial, stared at Elgil with jealous eyes and some were clicking their tongues at him, while some of the girls faces were even becoming red. After all, he really is a handsome guy.

“Advanced Class B’s time is two hours and eight minutes.”

There are some shocked voices coming from the students. However, that time isn’t impossible to beat.

The average time of this time trial for the general class is around four hours. The average time for the advanced class is usually three hours.

Elgil’s time is impressive without a doubt.

Once Elgil spotted us, he separated from the rest of the crowd and approached us.

“So? This is the strength of Class B. It’s all but confirmed now that I will join Class A.”

“Like I said before, you can’t make that decision…….besides”

“Besides?”

To my words, Elgil shows a fearless smile.

“— Besides, I don’t intend to admit defeat just yet.”

Elgil hears this and smiles broadly.

“…..Interesting, let’s see how far you can go commoner!”

“If that’s what you want. Right, everyone!”

I look back at everyone.

“No, well, it’s not like that……”

“Yeah, sure…….”

Eh, what’s with that reaction?

…..Why does it seem like I’m the only one still fired up……..

I….I’m so embarrassed!

“What’s wrong with them kero?”

“Ah, no..nothing. Let’s do our best, Lute….Lute!?”

“I’m so ashamed……”

I was crouched down, hiding my face in my hands.

I was the only one in high spirits….

I don’t understand why, but my heart feels like it’s about to break……

Four hours later. All of the morning teams had now finished, and it was time for the afternoon teams to start.

Before we started, Bagiran tried to encourage us.

“Everyone, do your best!”

“I’ll do my best!”

“Me too!”

“I will as well!”

“Me too!”

Alright, this time I wasn’t alone in being enthusiastic

….This isn’t the time to be thinking about that.

I need to focus on getting a better time than Class B.

“Now then, let’s start the afternoon time trial. Three, two…….begin!”

As the signal went off to start the trial, we rushed into the forest.

Class B

Several hours were spent riding along the bumpy road in the imperial carriage.

When suddenly, the carriage stopped. I was awoken from my nap by the abrupt stop.

A seemingly endless forest was spreading out before me.

“We’ve arrived. This is the location of the expedition, Vakyanarel Forest.

Bagiran says this as he gets out of the carriage.

Looking in the direction we had come from, I could see several other imperial carriages arriving.

“The building where we’ll be staying is in the forest, so we’ll have to proceed on foot from here, and we’ll be leading the other students. Because you are the special class, the regular students will be watching you to see how you handle everything.”

Bagiran gives us this advice, then proceeds into the forest.

We followed after Bagiran.

I pay close attention to the surroundings as we walk through the forest.

Walking through unfamiliar territory like this, it’s important to pay attention to one’s surroundings.

As I was looking around I noticed Bagiran had stopped moving.

“Oh, stop here. You all wait here for a bit.”

Bagiran who disappeared from our sight after saying this, defeated an unseen demon in an instant and returned to us.

Even though I was searching our surroundings, I didn’t notice that demon at all.

Bagiran must have a very large perception range….

Every so often Bagiran would stop us and take care of any nearby demons.

At first, I thought it was a waste that we were not allowed to take care of these demons, but after some time had passed I began to change my mind.

Perhaps Bagiran does not want any of the students to know what kind of demons are in this forest.

I was guessing Bagiran wouldn’t let us see any demons unless there was an emergency.

In other words, Bagiran wanted all of the students to go into this time trial with as little information as possible.

If my prediction is right, people in the other classes should not be seeing any of the demons as well. So, we’ll all be on even ground.

About an hour or so later, we were standing in the forest in front of a strange man-made structure.

I’d guess more than a thousand people could fit inside the wooden building.

It’s comparable in size to the academy.

“Alright, we’ve arrived. This is the building you all will be staying at.”

“Uwaa, it’s amazing…..”

“Something this big was hidden away in the woods.”

“Well, with magic anything is doable. Alright, I’ll tell you the plans for the forest expedition. Today you’ll be broken up, and the first time trial will start tomorrow at 8 a.m. The classes will be separated into two time slots, the second group will leave in the afternoon, so be sure not to be late tomorrow.”

Today we’ll be broken up?

Well, it is already evening.

So, the time attack is tomorrow…..hmm? Wait?

“If the classes are divided into two groups, can’t people from the same class cooperate with each other?”

I ask Bagiran this question.

“In fact, many of the students from the general classes do that every year. It’s actually a fairly common tactic. Well, it’s not necessarily a good thing for you guys. The general class is already rather hostile to you, so I doubt that any of them would want to help you.”

Bagiran entered the building ahead of everyone else.

It was a strange boy that called out to us.

People have been arriving to the building one after another. I guess it’s someone from the school.

Class B…….that means he’s a member of the advanced class!

I lightly greet Elgil.

And he begins to speak with a voice mixed with anger.

“Thank you for introducing yourself…but, honestly I hate that you all are in Class A, while I’m in Class B. After all, we’re all in the same advanced class, so isn’t it strange?”

“Is that something to be worried about…..?”

Is being in Class A somehow better than Class B?

We were all evaluated separately, but no matter which class everyone is in, we are all in the same advanced class.

But, Elgil didn’t seem to think so.

He stared at me with sharp eyes.

“You said your name was……Lute-kun?”

“Yes.”

Elgil pointed at me and declared,

“If I defeat you, then I will join Class A!”

“Eh? I decline. Besides, you don’t have the authority to decide that.”

This person is weird. He’s really strange, right?

“…….It will be fine!?”

“No, nothing about it is fine.”

I had to tell him twice that he can’t just decide who joins which class……..

It seems that he was surprised that I declined his challenge, Elgil’s blue eyes widened.

Though, to be honest, I’m surprised he thought I’d just accept his challenge.

Since he called me a commoner, I’m guessing Elgil is a nobleman.

If he’s trying to become an Adventurer, his position shouldn’t matter.

Elgil was clearly looking down on me. I felt a little offended.

Elgil stands in front of me before clearing his throat and begins to speak.

“Well, it can’t be helped. Since you want to hear my name so badly, I’ll just have to tell you. I am Elgil, Elgil von Istria — I am the man that will beat you guys.”

Right, I already knew that.

I’ve known since you introduced yourself at the beginning of this conversation.

“Now then, have a nice day.”

He said this before heading back to the building, with his cloak flapping in the wind.

Forest Expedition

Morning.

Another week had passed since entering the Adventurer’s Academy.

I’ve gradually started to become used to life here.

After receiving several lessons now, I now know the level of this school.

This academy is supposed to be the best in the country, but I don’t think it’s quite at that level.

…….Though, I’m probably wrong. Most students seem to be struggling with the lessons.

On the other hand, in classes that taught common sense and what being an adventurer means, I was the only one that struggled.

Grandpa and Grandma never explained the basics of being an adventurer to me, so all of this information is brand new to me.

Therefore, the number of things I needed to learn was more than other students. Inevitably, there would be a difference in our understanding.

But, I can’t leave things like that.

Now I use my free time in the morning to learn the basics about being an adventurer.

“Hmm……People must qualify to become adventurers, after qualifying they are awarded the title “Adventurer” by the country. …..It was a bit of a shock when I found out I lost to her.

Perhaps there are requirements for her to use alteration magic? Something like, “I can only use my magic if I’m touching a frog.”

Does that mean she keeps frogs at home?

Spending the first fifteen years of my life without friends wasn’t easy.

After hearing my words Tsurugi looked down at the ground silently.

“Lute, don’t forget about me! We get along really well with each other!”

“Ah Lute-dono, it was the same for me until I met Luluna……..Whenever I watched two friends spending time with each other I felt like I was going to cry…….”

“Cheer up Tsurugi. I will always be here to listen to your problems.”

Luluna gently pats Tsurugi’s shoulder trying to comfort her.

“I’ll listen to you too, because I am also your friend.”

Tsurugi’s other shoulder is patted.

“Yes, thank you………Huh? Why am I the one being comforted?”

While both of her shoulders were being patted, Tsurugi tilted her head curiously.

We all got into an imperial carriage to the forest, in total there were five people including Sensei. Our destination appeared to be Vakyanarel Forest.

I stepped on it and launched myself into the air.

Apparently the magic level of this country…….No, the magic level of this world, is much lower than I had imagined.

The sword was floating in the air.

To be more accurate, the way it’s floating is as if someone is holding the sword.

“This is my magic, metal magic. Quite simply, it is a magic that allows me to manipulate metals. As I am still inexperienced, I can only control something around the size of a katana, but I am able to control it to this degree. Allow me to show you!”

After saying this, Tsurugi began to throw more of the swords she had on her waist into the air one after another.

In total, the number was twelve.

As two columns of katanas float above her, the kimono girl stood there alone.

Tsurugi held the thirteenth sword in both of her hands as she looked towards us with eyes full of confidence.

I don’t get it.

“Can alteration magic change things into something besides frogs?”

Bagiran calmly asks Patricia this question.

Bagiran put his hand on his chin and began to evaluate Patricia’s magic.

Patricia opens and closes her hands, while Bagiran looks at her with his normal stern face.

“What does keroppa mean?”

“If keroro~n is a frog, then keroppa is a toad!”

“Okay. Somehow I don’t think I’ll be able to communicate with you.”

“Keroro~n”

Patricia shrugs her shoulders at Bagiran’s words.

Is it my imagination? For some reason I feel like I’m out of breath.

“Yes.”

Luluna is clearly nervous, she’s leaning forward a little, and clenching her fists.

Luluna says this like it isn’t a big deal, but I can’t hold back my excitement.

“It’s not that powerful. For example it is not effective against magic like Tsurugi’s, even if I were to neutralize her manipulation over the swords, I wouldn’t be able to stop the momentum of them.”

As for me, I still had magical power left to use.

Bagiran sees this and calls out to me.

“Lute, you’re already ahead of most new students. Even in the special advanced class this level is rare.”

Well, since I was a child I’ve trained with Grandpa and Grandma, and I am confident that I won’t lose when it comes to magical power.

As I continued setting traps, Bagiran gave me a thumbs up with a big smile.

“Lute, you really are as good as I expected! I could see your overflowing talent from the beginning!”
