One time when I got an intestinal bug (from drinking tap water in a foreign country), I wasn’t able to consume anything but water for three days. On the fourth day, I managed to eat three slices of bread! My intestines were in a state of revolt for more than a month, though.

This experience induced a panic attack, which felt like nothing else but a demonic assault. Actually if humanity never developed religion, the first time someone got a stomach bug and then a panic attack like this, that person probably would’ve derived a whole religion from it. “I got attacked by something that felt completely evil. But there was nothing physically there! So evil spirits exist? But then how haven’t we been destroyed by them? There must be a countering force of good spirits! (and so on)”

Although I don’t know how strong evil (stomach bug) demons are. My panic attack ended the moment I declared that I wouldn’t be moved by any persuasion other than argumentation. A firm stand is all it takes?

Anyway, nice water sports this chapter. Will Tanaka in the end be the least perverted of the people around him?
