It’s from a lack of self confidence. Most people when they first do anything tend to want to start out with other beginners.

Say you have your very first spar when training boxing. You don’t want to spar with a veteran, you’d rather spar with someone else that is having their very first spar.

I’m guessing this is some Japanese cultural thing, although to a lesser extent it does apply in America too. Remember Tanaka is really old and a vrgin himself, he has decades of shame. There was an American movie, 40 Year Old Vrgin that probably had similar themes, I didn’t watch it though. Did hear about it.

It doesn’t seem like she actually noticed or cared. She seemed to think he was staring at her for being an elf or having the choker on, and didn’t seem to even notice his compliment. Actually, he probably didn’t even say that out loud or said it so low she couldn’t hear, knowing Tanaka.

Nothing ever happens with him, but this would be his best chance, that he’ll do nothing with.

Not accurate but I read she betrays Tanaka’s good will beheading him and she isn’t a v**gin and has a lust/loyalty relationship with her owner who is a war enthusiast.

Though, it’s hypocrite of her to even be surprised about people staring at her with that kind of clothes. You obviously don’t wear that kind of thing except to attract people.

It’s a desirable point for a lot of people. It’s just that people stop caring about it once they realize how irrealistic it is (nowadays at least), then convince themselves they don’t really wish for it (while deep down they are, a little).
Well, it’s true that his deep obsession about it is overboard though.
